Maria Savona, Editor in Chief

Research Policy

Maria Savona is Professor of Economics of Innovation at SPRU, Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex, UK and Professor of Applied Economics at LUISS University, Rome. She has been Honorary Research Fellow at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK, and Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Lille 1, France. She is an economist (Laurea in Economics Cum Laude, Dpt of Economics, University of Rome La Sapienza) and holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from SPRU.

Luigi De Luca, Editor in Chief

Journal of Product Innovation Management

Luigi M. De Luca (Ph.D., Bocconi University) is Professor of Marketing and Innovation at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, which he joined in 2009. Luigi served as the School’s Pro-Dean for Doctoral Studies from 2018 to 2023.
As of January 1, 2025, Luigi is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Product Innovation Management.
Luigi’s research, teaching and executive education focus on the strategic and organizational antecedents, consequences, and contingencies of digital transformation. More recently, the links among digital technologies, innovation, and public value.
His work has been published in highly ranked academic journals in marketing and innovation, including the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Research Policy, Journal of Service Research, British Journal of Management, Industrial Marketing Management, and Journal of Business Research, among others.
Luigi volunteers as Board Member of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), Trustee for the children disability charity Gympanzees based in Bristol, and Vice-Chair of Governors at St Peter’s RC Primary School (Cardiff).

Beatrice D’Ippolito, Associate Editor

Beatrice D’Ippolito is Chair in Strategic Management and Innovation. Her research focuses on the emergence and development of mechanisms of knowledge creation and diffusion that connect the micro level of firm dynamics with the meso level of industry evolution. She conducted extensive qualitative and archival research within organisations of small to large sizes across different sectors.
Throughout her career, Professor D’Ippolito’s has developed interest in how inter-firm collaborations may yield innovation and constitute source of growth. She has conducted research on this subject across different empirical contexts, including the design-intensive furniture sectors in Italy, a range of large-scale research infrastructures based within the French GIANT campus, Grenoble, and the new energy technologies firms belonging to the French Tenerrdis cluster, Rhone-Alpes.
Currently, Professor D’Ippolito is working on a wide array of projects that relate to, among others, the role of design in shaping firms’ strategy-making, the way organisations embrace the potential of digital technologies with a focus on creative industries, and the nature and dynamics of the processes that characterise business model innovation.
Professor D’Ippolito’s research has been published in top-tier innovation and strategy journals such as Research Policy, Long Range Planning, Industry and Innovation, Technovation, and International Journal of Management Reviews. She sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of Research Policy and Industry and Innovation and is Associate Editor at the Journal of Management Studies. She is willing to supervise PhD candidates in the areas of design and innovation management, including but not limited to the role that digital technologies play in the organisation and management of firms.

Vincenzo Corvello, Editor in Chief

Vincenzo Corvello, PhD, is associate professor at the Department of Engineering, University of Messina. He holds a PhD in Business and Economic Engineering from the University Federico II of Naples. He teaches Innovation Management, Strategy and Organization and Project Management. His research interests are in the fields innovation management and organizational theory. His research has been published in international journals (e.g. Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, Review of Managerial Science). He is co-founder and has been CEO of Beautiful Mind S.r.l., a software development company, official spin-off of the University of Calabria. His research has been supported by national and international research grants. He is editor in chief of the European Journal of Innovation Management.
